Description:

At S-5! we put our money where our mouth is when it comes to the environmental benefits of the solar products we sell. In 2021 we installed 202 kW on top of our new manufacturing plant expansion in Iowa Park, Texas. Armed with nothing more than S-5!’s DirectAttach™ PVKIT® and S-5-T Mini Clamps, solar modules were installed under the tough Texas heat and we captured it all on video.

Installing rooftop solar without rails is gaining increasing traction in the industry, and a metal roof is the best place to install this way. “Why?” You may ask. Because “rails” are already embedded in your metal roof. With direct-attach solar mounting, you use the seams or ribs as the rails.

In this hands-on view of a real project and installation, Mark and Shawn will discuss the do’s and don’ts of installing solar on a metal roof. They’ll cover the benefits of pairing solar with metal, including material and labor cost savings and most importantly the easier logistics that come with rail-less mounting, because there is no need to transport and lift rails up onto the roof. Join us on our virtual walk-through of our solar installation and gain insight to take back to use on your next project.

Takeaways from this lesson:

  • What is needed and preparation steps for a medium commercial solar project.
  • Best practices to install solar using S-5!’s PVKIT on a standing seam roof.
  • Gain insight and best practices for wire management and other installation details…….soup to nuts.
